专业概况

在这里学什么？ **In a rapidly changing environment, animals and their ecosystems are in danger and skilled professionals are needed to help protect them. Our BSc (Hons) Zoology will develop your knowledge of concepts at the forefront of zoological science and provide you with the practical skills to help make a difference.** This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the biology of animals: you will learn about animals, the links between them and their environment, and key aspects of zoological phenomena from molecular to ecological levels. You will also learn about biological processes, their behaviour and how they react with their environment. Practical training will equip you with many of the subject specific, personal and practical skills needed for your future career.You will have the opportunity to go on several field trips over the duration of this programme which will provide real world experiences and examples to learn from. You will only pay a modest non-refundable administration fee for the residential field courses, which are otherwise **** subsidised by the university.Between years two and three of this course we encourage students to complete a placement year, which is arranged with our support. The position is often salaried, with a major company linked to a public health laboratory or wildlife trust, or a research organisation such as the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, MAFF or Central Veterinary Laboratory. In our experience, final degree results and employability are enhanced for students who undertake a placement year. 为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants with a graduation certificate from a specialised college or school (zhongzhuan) with a final grade of 60% or above will be considered for the International Foundation Year. Applicants who have completed the huikao (senior secondary school) with a final grade of 60% or above will also be considered. Applicants who have completed three full years of high school and hold a senior secondary school graduation certificate with an overall minimum grade of 60% will be considered for undergraduate study. Applicants who hold a dazhaun qualification with a score of 60% or above will be considered for advanced entry on relevant undergraduate programmes if appropriate modules have been studied. Applicants who have achieved ACC/BCC/BC in graded units on their SQA-HND programme will be considered for final year entry on selected undergraduate business programmes. We require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
