Shanghai Vanke Mall was constructed by Shanghai Vanke as a comprehensive, multi-dimensional urban hub. 这个暑假,上海德英乐学院的学生前往七宝万科广场调研,从经济学、消费者行为等角度来重新看待七宝万科广场。
This summer vacation SDAers went to a field study at Qibao Vanke Mall, having a renewed look upon it through the perspective of economics and consumer behavior.

参加本次七宝万科广场调研的同学分成三个小组,分别调研:
Students were divided into three groups, following three different research topics:
1. 关于学生群体对于七宝万科商场的消费需求的调查;
Consumer demand of the demographics of students at the Vanke Mall
2. 一楼标志牌特征的优点&需要改进的地方,以及问询台统计;
Traits of the signs at the first floor& where they can be improved, and the systems design of the information desk
3. 研究顾客的购物路径,并询问一些顾客一些感想和建议。
Research the shopping path of customers and inquire about their thoughts and suggestions.
今天我们就跟着三个小组的同学一起走进上海七宝万科广场。
Now, let’s follow our students and have a close look at the Vanke Mall.

学生群体在七宝万科广场的消费需求的调查
The research of the consumer demand of the student population at the Vanke Mall
同学们通过在不同楼层发放调查问卷,收集数据并进行分析,了解学生群体的消费喜好。在调研的过程中,大家感受到了一些挫折感,特别是当发放问卷被拒绝的时候,但通过不断的调整战术,最终获得126份答卷。
Students handed out their questionnaires at different floors, and then collected and crunched the data, getting to know the consumption preferences of students. During this process, some of our students got pretty frustrated, especially when they were rejected. But they constantly adjusted their tactics, finally receiving back 126 questionnaires.
“总的来说,这次调查活动还是十分成功的,虽然大家在刚开始向学生顾客询问能否让他们帮忙填写问卷时非常尴尬,也很害羞,但经历了这三天后,大家都变得更大胆,也更不怕被拒绝,这在今后做研究调查时是十分有用的”
In generally, this research is quite successful. Though everybody was so embarrassed and shy when they ventured out to customers, asking them to fill out the questionnaires. After three days’ adventure, they grew bolder, and no longer felt uncomfortable about being rejected, which is useful for our future research activities.

一楼标志牌特征的优点&需要改进的地方, 以及问询服务台统计
Traits of the signs at the first floor& where they can be improved, and the systems design of the information desk
观察是TQ组使用比较多的方式,通过对楼层标示的观察,以及对整个商场设计的观察及思考,给出合理的建议。同时问询服务台实习的小伙伴,除了要熟悉商场内部的构造。还需要记录顾客的提问,并进行统计分析。
Observation is the method frequently employed by members of TQ Group. Through the observation of the signs at each floor and the whole design of the mall, students have done some hard thinking and offered many suggestions. While for students working at the information desk, they needed not only to familiarize themselves with the inner structure of the mall, but also record the inquires made by customers and categorize them.
两个小分队每天会进行小组讨论,交换得到的信息,比如顾客的问题与频次,并通过信息分享,做出分析图表,配合着顾客的反馈进行深一步的归纳与分析并给出建议。
Two squads would hold their daily group discussion, exchanging their information, such as the questions, along with the frequency, made by customers. And through their information-sharing, they made bar charts and forms on the basis of what they’d learned and armed with the feedback offered by customers, they further categorized and analyzed, providing advice and suggestions.
“在这次活动中,我们难免会遇到一些问题,比如分析路径,解答顾客的疑问,这都是非常新颖的尝试。在最后的调研汇报中,我们也向七宝万科广场的三位领导提出了我们在调研过程中遇到的疑问,他们给予了非常专业的回答。在此十分感谢学校以及老师,七宝万科广场的负责人以及**人员,让我们完成了这次的研究调查。”
“During this whole program, we inevitably bumped into many challenges, such as the analysis of customers’ shopping path and the answering of their questions. Those were daring attempts. In the final presentation of this research program, we also posed our questions that arose during our research to three directors at Vanke Mall. They answered professionally. We owed a big thank you to SDA, our teachers, and directors and staff at Qibao Vanke Mall for helping us finish this research.”

顾客的购物路径研究
The research of customers’ shopping path
FC战队的调研任务中,需要跟踪顾客,并记录顾客的购物路径图,并向顾客发放调查问卷,根据收集到的数据进行整理和分析,获得有效数据和信息。
FC Group's research task required students to hand out their questionnaires to strangers, and based on the information they gleaned, to categorize and analyze it, and finally draw out effective data and conclusions.
“**次担任队长这样一个领导性的角色,让我体会到了作为领导他人这个角色的不容易。在整个调研中,我们需要在了解顾客购物行踪后上前问一些问题,但经常会被顾客拒绝,这让我想到自己每次也会拒绝别人的一些调查,以后我如果在有时间并且确保安全的情况下,会尽量回答他人的这种调查,帮助他们的。最后一天的成果展示也让我的演说有了更好的锻炼,同时也非常感谢七宝万科的负责人,对我们的调研给予高度的评价,并且给了我们很多很好的建议。”
“It was my first time to assume my role as a group leader, which made me realize how hard it was to lead others. During this whole process, we needed to ask customers some questions after we’d learned their shopping path, and many times we got rejected. It reminded me of how I said no to others when they were making some research. And I decided that I would participate those kinds of research as long as I had the time and was ensured safety. I also learned a lot from the group presentation at the end. A big thank you to directors at Vanke Mall—they gave us great reviews of our research efforts and offered us many suggestions.”

It was my first time to participate in such business program. I really appreciated that SDA and Vanke Mall offered us such a precious opportunity. I learned a lot from it. Running business is to find the right target audience. In the case of the Qibao Vanke Mall, it is the family. After pinpointing this target, we need to understand what they want and build our business model based on their need, trying to satisfy their demand. Only by this way can we earn more recognition from our customers.

This program meant a lot to me, for it was one of the few group activities I had taken part in from its planning, to its realization, and finally to the group presentation. It brought you a great sense of achievement when you applied what you’d learned in the classroom to the real world. I recommend each SDAer participate in such programs provided by our school. They surely offer you many valuable things.

Qibao Vanke Mall is a business ecological system unto itself, and it’s also a great venue for high school students to conduct their research. SDA, backed up by the enormous resources of Vanke, provides students a stage with infinite possibilities, preparing themselves for their college life in the future. In this summer vacation, Vanke’s chief architect Mr. Zhang Haitao will lead SDAers onto a journey of exploration, where they are going to dive into architecture and appreciate top architecture designs by masters.
