5月8日,上海德英乐学院全体教师开展了教师专业培训大会(PD)。与之前几期不同的是,本期培训老师们选择自己感兴趣的主题加入不同的小组,四个小组的主题分别是:
1. 教学中的语言学习
2. 中西方思维方式的对比
3. 鼓励创造性思维
4. 课堂管理与问题解决
On May 8th, a professional development (PD) conference was held by SDA for all teachers. Different from previous ones, this PD conference provided the teachers with opportunities to join different topic groups in which they were interested, including:
1. Language Objectives in all Classrooms
2. Comparisons Between Chinese and Western Ways of Thinking
3. Inspiring Creative Thinking
4. Classroom Management and Problem Solving
课堂中的语言学习 Language Objectives
该会议讨论了写作语言学习如何帮助学生培养在所有学科中使用英语的能力。老师们观察语言学习的重要性,探讨如何利用语言学习支持学习内容,以及如何制定语言学习?重要的是,学生需要培养在学校获取和学习所有学科内容的语言能力。
This session was about writing language objectives to help students develop the way they use English in all subjects. Teachers looked at the importance of language objectives, how they could be used to support learning content, and how to make our own language objectives. The important thing is that students need the language ability to access and learn their content in subjects all over the schools.
中西方思维模式对比 Comparison Between Chinese and Western Mode of Thinking
受到文化根源、社会结构、教育等诸多方面的因素,中方和西方在表现上有所不同,因此在同一件事情上会有一些分歧。能够从对方的角度去理解产生共鸣,对我们日常教学沟通非常有利。对文化的理解也可以更好地促进师生之间的,能够让学生在出国之前就体会到西方思维模式,更好地适应未来的学习生活。
Given different cultural origins, social structures and education, Chinese people have different ways of thinking from western people, so there may be some divergences in the same event. It is very beneficial to our daily teaching and communication to understand each other by thinking to the opposite and striking a chord. Besides, understanding different cultures can strengthen the connection between students and teachers, and enable students to experience and understand the western ways of thinking before studying abroad and better adapt to the abroad school life in the future.
鼓励创造性思维 Inspire Creative Thinking
创造性思维的重要性不言而喻,如何鼓励学生的创造性思维?这是该小组讨论的重点。在日常教学中,有很多种方式可以帮助学生逐步建立创造性思维,例如:开放性问答、尝试新的事物、尝试用相反的角度看待问题、等等。
It is important for students to have creative thinking. How to inspire the creative thinking of students is the emphasis of this group. During daily teaching, there are many ways to help students build creative thinking, such as open questions, try new things, try the opposite way, etc.
课堂管理+问题解决 Classroom Management Problem Solving
在本次PD中,课堂管理主要聚焦在以下两方面:

1.课堂规则的制定以及违反规则的后果
Rules, Routines and Consequences
2.差异化教导来帮助学生提升课堂参与度
Differentiated Instruction to Improve Engagement
在学生层面,明确的课堂规则可帮助学生树立规则意识,并且勇于承担后果。在教师层面,利用差异化教导方式,可以很好地帮助学生提升课堂的活跃度与学生的参与度,从而达到良好的课堂管理的目的。
For students, clear classroom rules can help them developrule consciousness, and have the courage to undertake consequence. For teachers, differentiated instruction is helpful in improving the classroom vitality and class engagement of students, thereby achieving good classroommanagement.
