多学科融合课程作为一种包容多种学科,将人文、自然和社会科学知识进行整合,强调事物之间和桥梁关系的新型课程形态,注重使学生在自主学习的过程中触类旁通更好地解决实际问题,掌握多元化知识与技能,提升个人综合能力,是国际化教育同时也是北外ICC不可或缺的教学形式之一。
近日,一场融合多学科知识的意大利面桥梁设计比赛在北外ICC拉开帷幕。这并非是单纯的数学、物理、英语学科知识的叠加,而是全科教学的有机结合。在比赛中,各小组需整合工程因素(物理)、桥梁的跨越距离(数学)、桥梁的选址(地理)、预期的交通类型(交通)、可用材料(材料)、建设预算(经济)以及桥梁的外观(设计)等等要素,利用意大利面搭建出承重力非凡的桥梁,并在制作完成后就成果进行汇报(英语)。
通过激烈的角逐,最终第四组参赛作品凭借承重超桥梁自重近50倍的优异成绩为IGCSE预备班的同学们赢得了最后胜利。
IGCSE预备班组的同学们表示,通过此次比赛,大家各展所长,迎难而上,互相理解、包容,充分认识到了团队合作以及沟通的重要性,这也为之后的学习及集体生活积淀了力量与信心。

起初,老师跟我们讲要做意面桥的时候,我们并不是很感兴趣。但是看过视频之后觉得很神奇,所以就和小组成员们一起着手搭建。但因为我们一开始没有计划,因此使得桥很潦草,但我们越做干劲越足,还去向老师请教了很多物理知识。这是我次意识到数学和物理知识是这样地生动有趣。很开心学校给了我这次机会,期待下一次的活动呀!
At the beginning,when the teacher told us about the spaghetti bridge competition, we didn't really want to do it. However, after watching the video,we thought it was quite interesting and decided to work together. The biggest challenge was we didn't have a detailed plan beforehand. While we were making the bridge, we revised so many times and even came to our physics teacher for help. This was the first time I realized that there were a lot of interesting and worth-exploring knowledge in mathematics and physics. I am very happy that the school give us the chance to work on this project and I am looking forward to the next competition!

这次意面桥比赛的氛围让我倍感愉悦,虽然过程紧张且刺激,每一次加上的砝码仿佛加在心上一样,每个组都尽力让自己的桥承载更多的砝码,但是整体的氛围却是非常和谐和友善,老师和学生都面带笑容,真正做到了友谊,比赛第二。
What I enjoyed the most about the competition was the atmosphere. The process was intense and exciting, especially when each time weights were added. All groups were trying their best to make their own bridge carry more weight. However, the overall atmosphere was very harmonious and friendly. Teachers and students were smiling all the time, which truly reflected the spirit of competition came after friendship. By the way, the cupcake was actually quite good.

参加了这次意面桥活动,从最开始的建组,跟着视频学习,到动手拼桥,再到最后的展示,整场活动,让我感受并学会了团队合作。一个人无法完成拼搭,整个过程我们不断地商讨如何使桥梁更坚固,吸取大家的意见,并不断地改进,这也正体现了团队合作的魅力!每个成员也都有自己擅长的部分,例如有的负责视觉美观,有的负责设计桥梁承重,有的负责最后的总结展示。看视频时,我们觉得特别简单,但是只有真正动手去做,才发现要兼顾美观和承重是多么的困难,一次次的尝试、改进,也让我们学到了很多数学和物理知识!
From the initial group building, watching video and building the bridge by hand, to the final demonstration, the whole activity made me know the importance of teamwork. One person can't complete the construction. During the whole process, we kept discussing how to make it stronger, absorbing everyone's opinion and making continuous improvements. This also reflects the charm of teamwork! Each member is good at something. For example, some are responsible for the design; some are responsible for the bridge's load-bearing part, some are responsible for the presentation. When we watched the video, we thought it was very simple, but only when we really started to do it, we found that it was so difficult to give consideration to both beauty and weight resistance. Again and again, we tried to improve it, and we learned a lot about mathematics and physics!

第四组(冠军组):
在这一学期结束之际,学校为我们组织了一场意大利面桥比赛。通过这次的活动我收获了很多。首先我深刻地意识到在团队活动中分工的重要性。次合作,所有人都还不适应,“一千个人眼中有一千个哈姆雷特”,我们每个人都有着自己不同的想法,分工这件事就变得很难。但好在每个人都有同理心,会为他人考虑。比如在材料选择、设计等方面大家会说出各自的想法,当通过讨论决定出最合适的方法后,有不同意见的人也愿意退让。在一段时间的磨合下,大家也都了解了彼此的个性,更学会了在适当的时候退让,分工问题也迎刃而解。再者在制作过程中,每个人都难免出现消极的情绪,但是为了整体的进度,所有人都会在最短的时间内调整好,再以积极的心态投入制作。在这时大家都会注意有消极情绪同学的感受,也会给予他鼓励与帮助。其次我体会到了大家的奉献精神和团队精神。使用热熔胶的同学经常会被烫伤,但他们都默默地忍受下来,没有一个人因为困难退缩,所有人都为了一个目标而努力着。我们的桥也不负众望夺得冠军。整个过程我们痛并快乐着,痛在过程中出现的身体上、精神上的各种难题,快乐在最后结果喜人。大家也在这次活动中展现了各自的风采。我们都不会遇到完全理想的人和事,但我们依旧心怀梦想,做好每件事情。我的收获莫过于学会了如何进行团队协作,更收获了六位可靠的伙伴。我也相信我们这个集体经过这次活动,可以将所学所获化作自身的能量,支撑着我们度过将来所面对的所有难关!
At the end of this semester, a spaghetti bridge competition was organized by school. We learned a lot from this competition. Firstly, we realized the importance of division of labour in group activity. At the beginning, each member had their own ideas, so it was difficult to divide the labour. In the end, when we were thinking about the design of bridge, we took turns to share our ideas and voted for the most appropriate method. Secondly, we learnt to deal with our feelings and emotions. During the building process, because of the final exams and difficulties in bridge structure, everyone had some negative emotions. We needed to change these feelings very quickly and put ourselves into building the bridge again. In addition, we were inspired by each other’s dedication and team spirit. Some members were injured from using the hot glue gun, but they did not give up and still worked with a strong passion. Everyone was fighting for a goal — building a strong bridge. Finally, the result lived up to expectations, our team won the championship. Looking back to the process, it was hard work, but we were happy.
