1. Should animal testing be banned?

2. Should vaccines be made mandatory?

3.Does technology intensify human communication skills?

From this debate competition, I have gained as well as learned a lot about the debate competition of Sendelta, and I would like to share some of my reflections. The topic that I chose in this debate is: Should vaccines be made mandatory? My point of view is yes on this subject. First of all, vaccinations help to decrease the risk of losing people’s lives when they are infected with covid 19. Furthermore, vaccinations can help to end the cycle of lockdown when people are no longer so easily infected . At the same time, there are both positive and negative externalities in imposing the vaccine. There are also some potential risks of vaccination.

As for the debate competition, teamwork is required to participate in the debate competition.Generally, the whole process is a detracted war. However, in this debate competition, I think our team lacked adequate teamwork and not prepared enough in advance, which resulted in some arguments, not being fully supported when we spoke. I hope I can gain experience from this competition and make progress in the next competition.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the finals of the tournament due to the change of Covid regulations in Macau since I went to take the SAT there, but i had a lot of fun during the qualification matches. The motion was on animals testing and we chose to argue for the testing of animals. The main arguments boiled down to a pathos filled argument from the other side about morality of the issue which normally stands no chance underneath practical benefits if it isn’t built up well underneath layers of logic. We had some statistics that we didn’t actually use because it became irrelevant. It was a fun experience to collaborate with my teammates and argue with Steven on the other side since he’s a friend.
