The Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in French Education culminates with the development of an Initial Competencies Portfolio, providing eligibility for candidates to apply for “A” licensure (initial licensure) from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The Master of Arts in Teaching is designed for candidates who have a bachelor’s degree but did not pursue teacher education or licensure as undergraduates. It requires 39 semester hours with 18 semester hours in the content area. All students are required to demonstrate proficiency in Phonetics.

Non-native speakers of English must validate proficiency in the English language by one of three means: TOEFL: 79 (paper-based 550); IELTS: 6.5 Band Score; PTE: 67; and ELS: 112.
