Be versatile! In our history program, you will develop your research and writing skills. Lots of careers are based on that. We offer public history courses relating to how people interact with the past - think museums, documentaries, walking tours and history websites - with an emphasis on digital history, and practicums for hands-on experience.

Honours option also available.

FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE

• Producing well-researched written and oral material that integrates contemporary and historical perspectives and engages diverse audiences
• Researching at a high level by collecting data and processing/ synthesizing substantial information
• Articulating the nature and importance of events in appropriate cultural, social, and historical contexts
• Identifying historic precedents for governmental and institutional policies and strategic plans
• Acquiring skillsets that facilitate the creation of public and digital exhibitions, datasets and websites
• Appreciating, understanding, internalizing, and applying various historical and cultural perspectives to real-world situations

Sample Courses: Past to Present: Understanding History, Making History: Methods and Practices, The World in the 20th Century, Aboriginal Peoples in Canadian History, Early Modern England

Career Tracks: Museum curator, archivist, government official, communications specialist, historical project co-ordinator.

为来自中国的学生设计 All programs require successful completion of the OSS Diploma and a minimum 70% average of six Grade 12 U or M courses, including ENG4U. English Language Requirements: A minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or A minimum score of 60 on the Carleton University’s Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL); or A minimum score of 60 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE); or A minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or the Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); or Successful completion of the University of Windsor's English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) (level III) with a minimum final grade of 75%; or A minimum score of 85 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB); or A minimum score of 220 with a T.W.E. 4.5 on the Computer-based Test, 83 with an essay score of 20 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.).
