FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Understanding, internalizing, communicating, and enacting best practices for making accommodations and modifications for persons with disabilities in real-world, context-sensitive situations

Evaluating representations of persons with disabilities in literature and media

Understanding psychological and social models of disability

Developing inclusive lectures, presentations, and programs that target diverse demographics equitably while remaining sensitive to various cultural dynamics

Assessing and appreciating the consequence of culturally constructed roles—and the perception of these roles-on individuals and broader social groups

Critically investigating trends and phenomena in socio-cultural life and business in the context of ableism

Career Tracks: Disability service worker, community support worker, behavioural aide, mental health worker, child and youth worker.

为来自中国的学生设计 All programs require successful completion of the OSS Diploma and a minimum 70% average of six Grade 12 U or M courses, including ENG4U. English Language Requirements: A minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or A minimum score of 60 on the Carleton University’s Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL); or A minimum score of 60 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE); or A minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or the Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); or Successful completion of the University of Windsor's English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) (level III) with a minimum final grade of 75%; or A minimum score of 85 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB); or A minimum score of 220 with a T.W.E. 4.5 on the Computer-based Test, 83 with an essay score of 20 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.).
