专业概况

在这里学什么？

As a TROY graduate with a bachelor’s in early childhood education, you will design instructional lessons and activities to help children grow as youth mathematicians, scientists, artists and masters of the English language. You’ll also be able to create a learning environment for young children in child care and primary settings where your students can adequately develop socially, emotionally and cognitively.

“Early childhood” is defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children as the time of a child’s life occurring before the age of eight. This is also considered to be the period of time in which a child goes through the most rapid phase of growth and development due to their brain developing faster than at any other point in their lives. TROY can prepare you to steward these young men and women in training as they learn reading, writing and arithmetic, and important components of life such as social skills, self-esteem, perception of the world and their moral outlook. With the importance placed on the teaching and learning that takes places along with these developmental milestones, it’s no wonder society has deemed early childhood education as one of the most important jobs a person can have.

The demand for early childhood care and education programs has increased fundamentally across all regions of the United States, particularly in states and cities where there is low socio-economic status, low educational attainment for families and in rural areas. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), much of the increase in demand for early childhood jobs is the result of the nation’s recognition of the importance of placing children in high-quality, out-of-home child care, and in response to the critical importance of educational experiences during the early years, birth-age eight. In fact, research has demonstrated that high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood programs, coupled with a highly qualified teaching staff, produces short- and long-term positive effects on children’s cognitive, emotional and social development.
