专业概况

在这里学什么？

Forensic archaeology uses archaeological skills to assist with the location and recovery of human remains and forensic evidence. Forensic anthropology is the analysis of human remains for the medico-legal and humanitarian purposes of establishing identity. Both play a key role in UK and international investigations in cases of inter-personal violence and homicide, repatriation, mass disasters, and war crimes.

Many of our staff are forensic experts. They will help you gain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the skills needed to search for, and recover, human remains in a number of different scenarios and analyse and interpret skeletal remains. You will learn how to write forensic archaeological and skeletal reports, and how these reports are used in the legal process, including presenting evidence as an expert witness in court. You will develop the practical skills and knowledge required by those who search for missing people and will be involved in the recovery of remains from clandestine burials.

Careers:

There is an international requirement for forensic archaeologists and forensic anthropologists who are competent in dealing with the location and recovery of human remains and forensic evidence in medico-legal and humanitarian roles. This course provides the skills to facilitate a career in the lab and field in forensic anthropology and forensic archaeology. You will also develop the skills to continue into academic research.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students with a Bachelor degree with an overall average grade of 75% or above from a recognised university will be considered and borderline cases if the student has a relevant degree and good grades in relevant subjects and/or relevant work experience of at least 5 years will also be considered. IELTS score of 6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in writing and 6.0/5.5 in the other three components.
