Students in the Canadian & American Dual JD Program earn two law degrees in three years and spend considerable time at the law school campuses at both the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy.

This program gives students a special opportunity to immerse themselves in two different legal cultures and to practice law in a globalized world. Today, the practice of law increasingly crosses borders and this unique program allows you to earn both the American J.D. and a Canadian J.D. in the same three years it takes most law students to receive one degree.

Program Format

The program provides a rigorous course of study requiring students to work and use their time management skills. The workload is more substantial as most required classes are taught in a comparative format, meaning you will be exposed to both countries' laws simultaneously. Given our unique proximity across an international border, students attend both universities at the same time. While the campuses are in different countries, they are only minutes apart.

Program Focus

The Dual JD program offers a corporate and commercial focus however; students take electives at each school so the Program can be tailored to suit their individual interests.

为来自中国的学生设计 A student with a four-year degree or equivalent in the discipline to which s/he is seeking admission, and who has an academic standing equivalent to 70% or better in the final two years of study (full time equivalent) may be admitted to a Master's program. English Language Requirements: Minimum IELTS: 6.5; Minimum TOEFL: IBT-83; Minimum Pearson: 65.
