INTRODUCTION

An effective construction manager understands how to successfully organise and plan complex construction projects, diagnose corporate problems, and manage project teams, procurement, finance and risk. Many graduates use this course to gain the skills and knowledge required to advance their careers and undertake senior management positions.

The development of this course has been led by industry to ensure that it covers current industry trends and emerging future skills areas in construction management. This course offers a structured route to obtaining the knowledge and understanding required to practice construction management. Emphasis is on developing practical skills and tools for a rewarding career in construction.It provides hands-on training in the use of state-of-the-art software tools and techniques.

This full master's degree is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Association for Project Management (APM); educating you to the highest industry standards.

You will:

• Learn how to successfully organise and plan complex construction projects and you will gain an understanding of international markets
• Learn how to diagnose corporate problems and manage a multitude of areas including people, finance and risk
• Be taught to recognise the significance of processes, technology and people to the success of projects in the construction industry

EMPLOYMENT

Many graduates use this course to gain the skills and knowledge required to advance their careers and undertake a senior construction management role. Some graduates choose careers in the industry that specialise in project management, architectural management and engineering design management.

Other graduates have used the course to branch out into parallel careers in civil engineering, financial, legal and business sectors. Some alumni have achieved notable success, with numerous winners of the Whiting Award and also several awards in the CIOB Building Manager of the Year competition.

This course has been extensively informed by collaboration between the university’s academics and industrial partners from the built environment. You will benefit from field visits, practitioner-led lectures and real-world problem-solving work developed for and by industry. You will receive actual practical experience and have the opportunity chance to network with key stakeholders.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree from a reputable Chinese university with a GPA of 2.4/4.0 or a final grade of 60% or above will be considered for postgraduate study. Applicants who have completed a higher education self study graduation certificate (zi’kao) with a final grade of 70% or above, and at least two years of relevant work experience, will be considered for postgraduate study. We require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
