专业概况

在这里学什么？ The Foundation Year of the four-year programme aims to provide understanding of the key subjects in business to meet the prerequisites for study on the associated degree programme. The key areas of study will be effective communication and study skills combined with key subjects in business. You will be introduced to basic theories and concepts within the disciplines to provide a basic knowledge in all related subject areas. The programme will introduce you to essential areas of business necessary for progression onto business, accounting or law degrees. You will learn how to apply business concepts to real life organisations and develop communication, IT and study skills. Following completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress on to year one of your selected degree for the remainder three years of your course (four years if you are choosing to do the professional placement year).With a curriculum that is career-focused and industry-informed, you will build the practical skills that employers look for. This is a challenging course designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of accounting and finance within the wider context of business and management. You will also look ahead to the technologies – such as automation and artificial intelligence – that will affect the work of accountants in the future.The University programme is accredited by the major industry bodies so you know that what you learn is aligned with industry standards. You can start your path towards ACCA qualifications and get exemptions from some professional exams including exemptions from 9 ACCA exams and 8 CIMA exemptions.Our relationships with a number of professional accounting bodies ensure the modules you study will always be closely aligned with current best practice. Our partnerships mean that you benefit from exemptions from some professional exams as well as the opportunity to join the ACCA Accelerate programme.The Professional Development module in the second year helps you to develop the skills you need – presentation skills, networking, interview techniques etc – to move more easily into successful employment. We strongly encourage all our students to take up the opportunity of an industry placement year between the second and third year of study. You can practise the skills you have already learned, develop your professional network and students who have done work experience tend to get better final year results. During this year, you will not pay University fees and you will be paid for your work.Through the Study Abroad programme, you could choose to spend your second year studying on an international exchange with one of our global partner institutions in Europe, the US or the rest of the world.This course is available with a Professional Experience Year, giving you the opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding you have gained in the first years of the course. If you choose to take the professional year option, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. In addition, you may choose to Study Abroad with one of our partner Universities for a semester or a year.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants with a graduation certificate from a specialised college or school (zhongzhuan) with a final grade of 60% or above will be considered for the International Foundation Year. Applicants who have completed the huikao (senior secondary school) with a final grade of 60% or above will also be considered. Applicants who have completed three full years of high school and hold a senior secondary school graduation certificate with an overall minimum grade of 60% will be considered for undergraduate study. Applicants who hold a dazhaun qualification with a score of 60% or above will be considered for advanced entry on relevant undergraduate programmes if appropriate modules have been studied. Applicants who have achieved ACC/BCC/BC in graded units on their SQA-HND programme will be considered for final year entry on selected undergraduate business programmes. We require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
