专业概况

This program supports current elementary teachers to become instructional leaders in elementary science education. The course of study is designed for an in-depth exploration of issues related to curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, research, and content for elementary science education. The program will emphasize equitable, engaging, rigorous, and responsive science, engineering, and environmental education for all students.

Career Opportunities

Students will gain hands-on experience through observations and student teaching in local schools, in addition to opportunities to attend and present at conferences. Careers include K-6 science specialists, district science specialists, elementary science coaches, curriculum developers, and facilitators of professional development.

Research Interests

Research interests include science education, engineering education, equity, culture, identity, and science education reform. Students will also have the opportunity to get involved with the HERP Project, a project funded by the National Science Foundation. The purpose of HERP project is to expose participants to ecological fieldwork by engaging in a variety of field science projects related to local reptile and amphibian species.

为来自中国的学生设计 All applicants must have obtained the following: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or appropriately-evaluated credentials for non-U.S. schools; satisfactory academic standing as an undergraduate or in a post-baccalaureate program. Non-native speakers of English must validate proficiency in the English language by one of three means: TOEFL: 79 (paper-based 550); IELTS: 6.5 Band Score; PTE: 67; and ELS: 112.
