A graduate education in nursing leads to exciting career opportunities and will prepare you for a bright and fulfilling future. Bobcat Nurses make important contributions to nursing through advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and teaching.

Bobcat Nursing graduates have become:

College Faculty

As an MN degree graduate, you are eligible to take the certification examination as a Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNL). A Certificate in Nursing Education can be taken concurrently with the MN degree.

All graduate nursing courses are taught by College of Nursing faculty using distance delivery methods. Two programs are available: BSN to MN and ADRN to MN (see below). This means you may complete your clinical education near your home, when possible. MSU College of Nursing faculty are recognized nationally for their broad and wide-ranging expertise.

Professional Project: You will complete a MN Professional Project developed in collaboration with a faculty chairperson and committee. Examples of exciting and innovative student projects include: assessment of medical errors on a medical surgical unit, improving communication between patients and care team – the foundation for patient satisfaction, and developing a cardiac services nurse residency program.

Distance Graduate Program: All graduate courses are offered online with teleconference and video conference used to supplement content.

BSN to MN Program

The BSN to MN Program prepares graduates with advanced leadership skills to be applied in the healthcare delivery system across a wide range of settings. Functions include; client advocacy, team manger, information manager, outcomes manager, systems analyst/risk anticipator, educator, and active professional. The Montana State Board of Nursing has identified a Master's in Nursing Degree as the minimum qualification for the registered nurse educator role.

ADRN to MN Program

The ADRN to MN Program provides a pathway to the Master's in Nursing (CNL) program for Licensed Associate Degree prepared Registered Nurses. Students who successfully complete two BSN bridge courses and satisfy MUS Core 2.0 will matriculate into the Master's in Nursing Program. The MN degree prepares graduates with advanced leadership skills for a wide range of roles in a variety of healthcare settings.
