Engineering Technology Graduates use the principles of science, engineering, and mathematics to solve problems in research, product development, manufacturing, marketing, technical sales, service, and maintenance. Their role is vital, and as society becomes ever more dependent upon technology, the need for those experienced in engineering technology will also increase. In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor expects overall employment in the engineering technology field to grow, and graduates have a wide variety of career options.

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology provides a strong foundation in mechanical, manufacturing, and electrical engineering technologies. It is a unique program that has three clusters of courses: Engineering Technology (includes manufacturing processes, engineering mechanics, transducers and instrumentation); Manufacturing Quality (includes Six Sigma, lean manufacturing); and Technical Management (includes engineering project management, operations management).

Besides being an ABET accredited program, the program is also accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) to offer a unique opportunity for the enrolled students to become Six Sigma certified at the Black Belt level as they are pursuing their degree.

Graduates of engineering technology, engineering, and sciences are instrumental in product development, building or testing equipment, preparing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, or building prototype versions of newly designed products and equipment, or in research. Others work in quality control – inspecting products and processes.

Student Outcomes

To enable graduates to achieve the Program Educational Objectives and in accordance to ABET Student Outcomes recommendations, American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), and the Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME), the program empowers our students with a specific set of skills and knowledge. Students graduating from this program must have obtained the following outcomes:

  • Apply principles of Geometric Dimensioning, Tolerancing, computer aided drafting and design
  • Select, set-up, and calibrate instrumentations
  • Use Solid Mechanics, Statics and Dynamics in Mechanical system design needs
  • Solve problems in Differential and Integral Calculus
  • Apply Materials Science, Select and measure Strength of Materials
  • Analyze Manufacturing Processes and Systems
  • Apply Principles of Thermal Sciences
  • Evaluate Currents and analyze Electrical Circuits and Control
  • Follow up Product Design, Tooling & Assembly Processes
  • Perform Quality analysis, Continuous Improvement, and Industrial Management procedures
  • Communicate technically and efficiently in engineering presentations and reports

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed a high school. English Language Requirements: minimum score of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, 79 on the internet-based TOEFL, or a 6.5 on the IELTS.
